For years I have built haunted houses and various outdoor displays, but in 2023/24, I decided to go all out. I transformed the front of our home into a cemetery, complete with towering gates, hand-carved tombstones, and a custom lighting package.
My two "fire towers" as I dub them, operate off of low-pressure propane fuel. Inside each tower sits a standard propane tank linked to a 5 gallon accumulator tank. This was done to step down the pressure but increase my expulsion volume. At the top of the tower sits an electric solenoid with a blowtorch. When a guest trips an IR sensor between the towers, it lets the propane out to be ignited, producing a 20 foot flame.
The experiences ran hundreds of feet of wiring to power the pyro, lighting, sound, and props. Everything was sycned to timers and relays to allow for a simple show to run.
Guests motion between the towers triggers the pyrotechnics.
A drone shot simulating a guest path approaching the home.
Neighborhood shot showcasing the brilliance of the flames.
